Autism Spectrum Disorder refers to a range of neurodevelopmental disorders that affects 1 in 68 children in the United States; causes are currently unknown, but it speculated that there are genetic, environmental, and morphological factors.
In this project, we explored a method of social, environmental enrichment for Pten haploinsufficient mice, an autism model, of various ages. The goal was to evaluate whether increased enrichment could slow or reverse the social deficits inherent in this autism model.
Work was done under the supervision of Dr. Damon Page in the lab of Professor Mriganka Sur, MIT Simons Center for the Social Brain; presented at Intel STS 2010.
